Laurie buys four bags of candy with 10 pieces of candy in each bag. Her father then gives her 5 more pieces of candy. Laurie wants to give as much of her candy as she can to each of her six friends, and she wants to make sure they each get an equal number of pieces. How many pieces will be left over, if any, after Laurie gives her friends the candy?

There will be no candy left because Laurie will give each friend 10 pieces of candy each.

Ok! At first Laurie has 40 candies since 4 times 10 is 40. then after her dad gives here more, she has 45. 
45 is not divisible by six, so we will get a remainder. the closest number to 45 when multiplied by six is 42, and 42/6=7.
Each friends will get 7 pieces, and there will be a remaining of 3 pieces since 45-42=3.
