Dinosaurs have been thriving for about 165 million years on earth. They were gone about 65 million years ago. At the end of the Cretaceous Period, a asteroid 10 miles wide crashed into the Gulf of Mexico about 66 million years ago. Like that the dinosaurs went extinct but the birds who managed to survive.
